I was impressed with the way Weird Al Yankovick captured the essence of Jim Morrison on this one. Even though Jim Morrison was before my time, I always idolized him and was fascinated by his attitude, enthralled by his poetry, and completely lost in the music he made with The Doors.
Of course, after watching this I wanted to find some real Jim Morrison to watch. I can’t watch a knock-off Jim, however well it’s done. Weird Al sure did a great job channeling Jim, but I need a little more.
Here is another of my favorite songs and one that used to make me want to dance like a shaman when I was younger.
Somehow, I’ve always felt some connection to Jim Morrison, and perhaps that was what made him who he was. Jim Morrison was captivating and when he sang, I couldn’t help but want to close my eyes and rock my head back and forth, getting lost within my mind, the music, and Jim’s voice.
I was born way too late…

Weird Al Yankovick is the man, he is so funny and cracks me up all the time, I like I’m fat by him and white and nerdy!
I am definitely a sucker for that “original” sound, and Jim Morrison is one of a kind. Even though Weird Al takes the easy way out by using someone else’s work and making it comical, he is funny, and has a slight bit of talent. I guess those things are what makes Al original, too.
Nevertheless, I can’t say I would be putting the “Weird One” on my Ipod anytime soon.
Totally huh Carolyn. You know me back in my day. I couldn’t get enough Morrison.
Heh, I also listened to Weird Al on Dr. Demento..lol
