Santa Claus is Coming to Town

I’ve been hesitant to really promote any products on my site because I really do like to use the products before I sell them. I need to believe in them. My recent post on Where is Santa Claus Right Now? was perfect. They have the one thing that is so rare, the ability to create a memory for your child or one you know of. Sending a letter to Santa is important to children, receiving one must be tops.

You can still make it if you want to ask Santa to send a letter to a child you know. Just click the image below if you are interested.

The Original Letter from Santa

I know why I felt that was the perfect ‘product’ to promote for me because I actually met Santa Claus one time. I did, really. It was him and you can’t convince me otherwise.

I Met Santa Claus

Jacq and I went to go see The Hulk when it came out this year. We usually sit in the first row of the theater. No, not the very first row, but the first one on the stairway or ramp. We like to slouch and kick our feet up on the bars and relax a little. Anyway, we’re sitting there, dead center, a little early to make sure we catch the previews and who walks in? Santa and a friend whom I suspect to be a cleverly disguised elf.

Being off season he wasn’t wearing his normal Santa attire, but instead looked quite obviously on holiday. You could still tell it was him though. He had suspenders that brightly screamed red and green decorations a long white beard and a spring in his step. They ended up sitting a few seats over from us.

We watched the movie without passing glances or making any contact at all, but when the movie ended, Santa obviously wanted to see the credits. As we made our way by the two, I whispered a little ‘Pardon me Santa’ as I went by so not to disturb them. I took a few steps and he spoke to me.

Instantly I felt a wave of cheer come over me, and as I turned around I found him looking at me and stretching out his hand to offer me something. I took a card from his hand, looked at it and said “Thank you Santa”. I couldn’t read it, it was still quite dark in the theatre.

“That’s for you, for being such a good person and having a smile in your heart.” he quickly returned.

I said “Thank you very much” as a big smile popped up on my face. “Have a safe trip this year Santa, we’ll be looking for you” and turned and walked away feeling like a little kid that just sat on Santa’s lap.

As I made it out into the light of the lobby, I opened my hand to look at what Santa had given me. It was his card, but not just any card. It was more than that, and what it said filled me with a childish joy that I haven’t felt in many years. It was really a special moment for me.

He made me an honorary Elf! That’s right, I kick it with the big jolly dude as an honorary Elf. It’s how I roll.

Santa's Card - Back

When I got home, I signed it and put it away to bring out this month to share with everyone. I thought it was a great gesture on Santa’s behalf to bestow me this great honor.

I try to uphold the virtues set forth on this card and think I do a pretty good job at it. I thought it was a pretty neat experience and I’m glad to find there are those out there that have found a way to put smiles on peoples faces above all else.

You might notice that the card is devoid of any contact information. Santa makes these cards on his dime and distributes them when he sees an act that is worthy of merit. Who else in the world would do such a thing? Who else would put up their own time and money in this world to create a smile on someone’s face in this manner? (other than the thousands of humor bloggers out there, props!)

This was an act of true kindness that I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I hope that you carry with you a little cheer and joy this season, do right by each other and just be good humans. The smallest act of kindness can have a great impact on the world.

Thanks Laketrees! Yeah, it’s within each of us to put a smile on someone’s face everyday, just a matter of if we do it or not sometimes. That was a happy day for me, all because of him. Amazing how that can happen.

Vikki, it was amazing. The feeling he inspired was screaming in me to go do some good. The fact that one person can inspire like that is…well…inspiring.

    You sure it isn’t a Dodge? :P

This is an amazing story. I believe in Santa with all my heart. I see him every year about this time eating out at local restaurants. BTW just so you know what to look for, he drives a great big Ford truck! Plenty of room in the back for tired reindeer.
Have a wonderful Christmas and keep spreading the love!

I might suspect that each morning he pockets a few and has the printer on stand-by in case he runs out. That seems to fit a little well…

I love Christmas, even the older I get. But I don’t do the malls or anything like that anymore. No way, uh uh won’t catch me near there.

That’s hilarious!! I wonder how many of those he passes out in a year. This is such a good time of year to do good things. And it’s funny how many people I’ve just chatted with recently in line and around stores….people are so much friendlier. Christmas is amazing.
