Well, I've been trying to get some things cleaned up around the blog. I've been focusing on making some CSS tweaks that, really, should have been done before I kicked out this theme. But oh well, I have known the issues and I was fine letting them ride. Here's a little of what I've been doing when not writing posts.
One of the most disconcerting issues this theme has faced is the fact that Internet Explorer users saw it as a complete mess. In some ways it still is, but I've tidied it up a bit. Probably the way it will stay for another quarter or two. If you are using IE, you might want to change and go to FireFox or my new favorite, Flock. They are much better browsers, and I'm a Microsoft geek whore saying that. There is surely something wrong with a product that is seen as crap by people that develop software for them.
Recent Updates
Some recent updates that I'd like to call attention to are
- I've removed my resources page in favor of a different title, Links. My new links page has the ability to grow in sections and links within those sections. I currently have a Downloads section where most of my BlogEngine.net stuff is placed. I transitioned a new theme from WordPress to BlogEngine called Bible Scholar. While I may not be a bible scholar myself, the theme is rocking. In fact, I believe it will be included in the next release of BlogEngine, so yay!
I've also added a list of EntreCard drop sites that I will try to hit daily. I added everyone from my Top Droppers widget, and plan to add sites that have EntreCard above the fold and that also list their top droppers. I figure if I'm going to spend the time to drop on sites, I'll do so where I get the most bang for my buck. If you use EntreCard and want to be on the list, contact me to have your link added if you meet the above conditions.
I've also updated my Web Development links as well. These are sites that I use for development. There aren't a lot there now, but as time passes and I remember the sites I use (there are quite a few depending upon what I'm doing), I'll list them there.
- I'm trying to increase the effectiveness of my EntreCard implementation by noting to droppers that I have another site they can drop on also, as well as a quip about what I mentioned in item 1 above.
- The Top Commenters Gravatar icons always had this annoying border around the images if the user also has a web site. Since Ryan Herman's climb to the top of this list has shown a difference between those that have a web site and those that don't, I decided to clean it up a bit and remove the border completely. I think it looks a little nicer now.
- Finally, I've listed all the social services and site that I subscribe to and use to some extent within my 'Hello there, I'm Wayne' box. If you are part of any of the sites listed, why not add me as a friend there too?
One leftover item I'm trying to work out is the post navigation at the top of the page persistently disappears when you hover your mouse over it. For the life of me I'm unable to get any CSS changes to affect this item. Perhaps I'm meant to figure that out another day.
So, my day thus far has seen me taking care of a little house-cleaning.
I'm planning to do a number of posts that involve manipulating and understand templates on Blogger. Keep an eye out for those, there will be several that are not part of the 'Lesson' series.
Shout outs
Heff at the bar, what's happening man! I must say that I really enjoy the way you 'themed' your blog.
Ryan - WTF, get a blog for pete's sake.
Signe, I'm quite depressed that you don't think we could survive as nudists.
Gary, is that cannabis club still across the street from the Fluff n' Fold? Have you stopped in there yet to asses that situation?
Karen, did I piss in your Cheerios? :) You are fading from my list, what's going on? I'll miss you if you leave!
Demeur, between you and Gary going back and forth with politics, I think I'm going to shoot my head off. I'm having a great time reading both ends of the spectrum, but quite honestly, I'll be glad when Barrack is made president and we can get back to correcting the mess Bush made.
Sue, thanks for showing me twhirl, now I'm a twittering twit. Thanks. heh heh
Cyndi, thanks for the back and forth this week. I'm feeling a bit better about things in this world and you helped me a bunch, so thanks!
Penny (not really) for your thoughts
What do you all think? What do you think of the Bible Scholar theme; should I consider switching to it? You know I'm toying with the idea.
