Use Entrecard to Find New Blogs and Promote Yours

You may have noticed that I recently signed up for Entrecard.  Entrecard is a service that allows me to 'drop' a virtual business card on other peoples sites and blogs who are also part of the Entrecard network.  It's been a great way for me to find new blogs and drive traffic to my site, all at the same time.

Entrecard This is my current Entrecard.  I felt direct and too the point is good for right now.  Since my biggest asset is a group of training posts, I felt I should try to get the word out to other Blogger users so that we can get some more ideas for posts coming in.

When I visit a site, if they have signed up with Entrecard and have installed the widget onto their site, I'll drop my card.  This will then show that I stopped by, much like the MyBlogLog shows who the recent visitors to my blog were.  However, I can also go to the Entrecard admin screen to find other blogs that I might want to advertise on.

You'll see a new blog on my Entrecard widget each and every day as long as people are interested in advertising their blog here.  Thank you to those that have chosen to so far!  I'm pretty intrigued by what comes crawling out of the deeper parts of the Internet to greet me sometimes, but I give all a fair stab at advertising on my blog.

These are people that have paid me with Entrecard credits (digital funny money specific to Entrecard) to have their graphic displayed on my blog.  I can also do the same, and I have.

I'm still learning and using Entrecard, and one side benefit is that I ultimately see quite a few new blogs each and every day.  I felt that was pretty cool since I'm really spending a little time trying to promote my blog by dropping my card everywhere there is an Entrecard widget.

Thank you Entrecard Visitors

If you use Entrecard, why not leave a comment with a link to your blog?  I'll add you to my list of sites that I visit to drop and I'll comment on yours where I feel I can add value to you.  You just need to let me know you're alive and kicking...

Try it out?

If you have been sitting on the fence about Entrecard, why get off yer butt and start it up today?  By the end of this week, I know you'll see and increase in traffic as I have.  You just need to start.

How do you find new blogs?  You can see I started with Entrecard and MyBlogLog to help me find new blogs.  What has been your experience with these if you have used them, or currently use them?

"Business Card"?? or personal card. At the onset of the 20th century (thats the start of the 1900's), it was considered quite proper to be able ot present one's personal card. These personal cards would simple state the persons full name---some might include their home address, as such a personal card might read simply John Q. Smith one one line, underneath "Swallow House-Carriage Rd, London, England.----It would be a nice custom to bring back to our busy cold sterile everyday world.
The Japanese business men are extremely big on exchanging cards. The size of the type, th quality of the card all important and identifying the owners place in society.

    @Karen - I like it, I'd click it!

@Gary - Yeah, that's how they position themselves, as the business card for the Internet. I've found some pretty cool blogs through them, but also have increased my traffic a bit as well.

The one thing tho is that the traffic is here then gone. They come, drop their card, and then they're off to the next site. I admit, I do that quite a bit too. However, I wonder how many of them, if they looked at the content, would find something they'd like to comment on. I suspect some would, yet they come and go.

    *ducks*

I found a number of really good blogs through EC so far. I'll sometimes just cruise from one to another and comment as I go if I find something.

Quick question...Is there any ec etiquette I should know about? Like not dropping on someone for so many days after the last drop or that kind of stuff. I'd like to get repeats, but I don't want to look like I'm stalking anyone!

What I have noticed so far Signe, is that there are bloggers that reward frequent droppers with a 'top 10' post filled with linky love.

I also notice that I get a whole lot more people dropping on me after about a solid week of daily mass dropping. Now that I've been over the excitement of watching it work, I'm now taking my time and inspecting blogs and leaving comments where I can fit in. I've found some really great blogs by slowing it down.

I found this great how to: entrecard.com/static/entrecard_official_ebook.pdf

They say to not drop too quickly, to take the time to read the site your on. Then they also allow you to drop up to 300 per day. So I don't know how much time you have in your day, but taking some time on 300 sites in one day just isn't feasible. I've hit 300 one time only because I was trying to, it will never happen naturally. At least, not for me. heh

I don't think you'd be stalking at all, in fact, you'd fit right in with everyone else.

Life Ramblings, I'm enjoying it very much as well. Thanks for chiming in!

Signe, I don't think I would be offended one bit if you stalked me. lol In fact, because you are commenting here so frequently, I thought perhaps you might feel the same about me!

I'm glad to have helped out!

I like Entrecard because it really helped me increase my traffic and I found many good blogs and made some wonderful blogging friends. I mix it up between reading and commenting and just going on a "exploration mission" by doing the drop and go move; however, I usually return the drops I get. I think that is a common practice among most members.
