Why I Start the Week on Saturday

I mentioned in my weekly recap on Saturday that I start my work week on Saturday.  I do this primarily because Saturday's are more quiet.  No one is really working, so my phone isn't ringing, I get more time to myself to review the prior week and take a look at what I'll be doing the next week.  But I consider Saturday the beginning of the week.

It makes sense that I'm able to get more done on Saturday for the simple fact that most people don't work on Saturday's.  Working on Saturday gives me a chance to regroup and reorganize my plans if I need to.  Saturday's and Sunday's are excellent days to use to recover from unexpected interruptions or things that have just gone awry through the course of the week, on the weekends that is.

On the weekends, I wake whenever I wake up.  Sometimes it's 7AM, sometimes its late morning...rarely is it afternoon, but it does happen sometimes.  It just depends on what's happening the night before.  The point is I don't try to manage it.  I just let it happen

Friday nights are let loose nights.  The end of the classic work-week, and it's just plain Friday.  By that time something has to give, so it's party time!  Maybe.  Sometimes it's nice to just relax, get a nice dinner and a few drinks.  There isn't any set schedule, but Friday is the day I would party if there was one.  I don't touch the computer on Friday night at all.

So, I wake on Saturday and make my way to Starbucks for a kick in the butt.  Liquid motivation as it were.  After I get some gulps in, I'm start looking at prior emails and reviewing the past week.  I reflect on all aspects of my life and try to prioritize what I want to do with the week coming up.  I begin the week.

Saturday gives me the entire day and the next day to play catch-up if I need to, to get ahead if I want to, or have fun.  It really depends on the week and the projects I'm working on.

Thanks for the nice words Baker! I'm still growing as a blogger and a writer, so hopefully you'll see big improvements as time goes on. Thankfully, there are those that seem to like what I write, and that is always inspirational. So thank you very much!

wow, impressive, over 300 words to say "I start my week on Saturdays"---and the subtle repetive variations of saying it too----kinda the verbal equivalent of the music "Bolero"----awesome blog

@Gary - Hahaha, yes yes yes...I can be a little verbose sometimes just to make a statement. Sometimes you need to, other times you don't. It's a concept that I felt needed a bit more explaining to everyone since most everyone considers Sunday (by calendar) or Monday (by work) to be the start of the week.

If I had my way, Saturday would be the first square in the calendar...

It sounds to me like you don't do any more work on Saturdays than you do during the week. So here's a little story.

A woman at work tried that trick with me. Said she couldn't get much done during the week, what with having to answer the phone, etc. and that she'd like to come on on Saturdays. So, one Saturday I had to stop in to get some papers.....She was sound asleep and I realized that she had preset the wordpress on her desk with about a million words and all she had to do was hit PRINT and it would sound like she was working her butt off.

On THIS particular day, she jerked awake, hit PRINT and the press went NUTS........ESPECIALLY SINCE SHE'D FORGOTTEN TO PUT PAPER IN IT.
