Color Psychology

One part of designing an appealing web site is to have some pleasing colors.  A web site that is black would have a different emotional response than one with red as a base color.   The most prevalent color is most likely the background color.  So how do you pick a color?  Simply one that looks good is probably your answer, but wouldn't it be nice to understand how colors affect ones emotions, however subtle?

The Color Psychology bit by David Johnson is a quick read on the basic colors and their assumed psychological meanings.
