Time to share a little bit of what I’ve learned while trying to make some money through my online activities. Each month I expose what I’ve earned and share a little about what I’m doing, how I’m doing it so that you might do it too, or just generally ramble on about nothing in particular.
This post will fall into the latter category as I really don’t have much to say this month other than to impart a little advice that I feel is perhaps the most important thing I can ever tell those that are hoping to get rich over the Internet.
Don’t put all your eggs in a single basket!
That’s right, diversification is the online money makers best friend. It really hits home when you realize just how little control you have over changes to any program implemented by any given service. Google could easily change their program so that would earn more or less. Ebay has changed their program to utilize some mysterious and veiled algorithm to produce their affiliates daily earnings. Amazon, and any other affiliate program you might be using can do the very same, with the impact to you being a big fat question mark.
I know that I prefer to live in a world with a little more certainty and understanding of what I’m doing, but the new Ebay Quality Click Pricing (QCP) model they’ve migrated everyone to has me completely confused. I don’t know what this current month will look like, and it really dashed some plans I had for December, but that’s just the way it goes.
Which leads me to diversification. It would be foolish of me to focus solely on Ebay and promoting their auctions and sales, so I’m branching out a little. I’m going to start doing more with Amazon. I’ve just started up with Chitika as well, which looks promising. You might see an ad for Chitika in my sidebar now, and if you have a good number of page views from search engines, you could very well be leaving money on the table.
I’ll write more about Chitika when I get my head around their programs, but I know there are some out there that could take advantage of their program right now and begin earning some extra money.
Lesson here is diversification. If one program begins to fail, or changes the game suddenly, you don’t want to find yourself without options. If Ebay begins to tank on my, then I might swing over to Amazon and do more there.
It leaves me with more options, and personally, I like that. You probably do to.
So what are my numbers this month?
AdSense - $117.64
Ebay - $368.14
LinkListings - $24.00
Client Work - $237.50
DiggityHost.com – $1.72
That brings the total for the month of September to $749.00. Things are getting better each month, except for DiggityHost. After more than two years of trying to make GoDaddy’s reseller program work, I’ve decided to throw in the towel. I will no longer promote DiggityHost and ultimately allow it to die off.
All the existing clients on DiggityHost will be transitioned to GoDaddy, where they will experience the same level of service that they have come to enjoy (or despise, let’s be honest here) on DiggityHost.
They can’t all be winners, and it’s time to drop some dead weight and focus my attention on those services and clients that are bringing in the money.
What about you?
What are you doing to make money online? What’s working for you, what isn’t?

I had a friend who was bringing home an average of $50 a day with Adsense..he had an account rep and all. Last month his account was abruptly terminated for no good reason.
He had done the same thing with Ebay a year or so ago..
Your advice to diversify is great advice.
My friend is actually doing Chitika and a few others..he said he is up to an average of $15 a day with Chitika.
I’ll have to assess my online ventures to see where they lie..most income is from the SEO clients which were referred from off-line connections, so I wouldn’t count that in my online income.
Keep it up bro, I am sure you’ll be in the 6 digits in no time. The tipping point is right around the corner.

I’ve had some luck with hosting referrals, but there are definitely big differences in which ones convert. Adsense can also be great if you’re in the right niche – sites related to education or finance can do well off a dozen clicks a day.
Right now though, I’m working on some extra contract work so I can afford this Christmas thing!

The ad is for a work at home deal through Google. Anything to this or is it the usual work at home BS?

It looks to be complete bullshit. I see “Mike Richardson from Garden Grove, CA”, do you see the same thing? I suspect you won’t.
None of the links work except the money maker link, the comments are faked, and I suspect the Garden Grove for me, will be a city near you when you bring it up.
Anything that ultimately leads you to a page where they ask for your first name, last name and email address is most likely someones way of building their list of email recipients. Especially when there isn’t much else but pretty graphics. lol
If you sign up with them, you’ll be sure to get an email from them trying to sell you something. They’ll dangle that carrot as best they can, trying to get you to buy.
I also suspect that any money you might make, will be from doing exactly what I just described to other people under your own domain name.
It’s a marketing gimmick, and people like Yaro, and the other big names do this junk selling all the time. Makes them money, and perhaps a few other people too, but you don’t hear of many.
I like to think that once people realize what they’re doing, they puke from disgust and find a better way than screwing people over.
Yeah, I’m bitter about these types of sites….I don’t like them.
Nice numbers! Were exactly do you host the ads? Can you provide links to one of your hosting sites so I can see how you go about doing it? I am just starting with internet marketing and I would appreciate an successful example that could steer me in the right direction.

Examples. Hmm. I’m not in the habit of sharing my sites, at least, I haven’t been. I have reasons for not sharing, but it isn’t because I fear you’ll go replicate it…it’s more about NOT linking to it so I can watch what happens without influencing it beyond what’s natural.
Here, I’ll give you one eBay site: http://www.surroundsoundsale.com
Thanks a lot! Thats a good example! I’m just trying to find successful examples of what works so that I don’t waist my time trying things that don’t.
I do not what to take your idea and copy it. I just want to see the layout so that I have an idea how to go about doing it for products that I want to promote.
Thanks!
