Ah, another month, and another report. Even though I haven’t been posting on some regular schedule, the traffic levels seems to be holding steady, and the income is still flowing in. I have nothing to complain about.
August was particularly exciting for me. Somehow I’ve managed to increase my Ebay earnings to a point where I could afford a monthly payment on a really nice motorcycle, which is a goal I’ve set for myself. I figure, if I’m able to cover hosting, domain renewals, and have some left over for a motorcycle payment, I’m buying a new ride.
First though, I want to see at least three months pass with enough earnings to accommodate that loan payment. I’m shooting for December to get my new ride, we’ll see what happens, and of course I’ll keep you updated on that.
Making Money Online
So here we go, here’s a breakdown of everything I’ve earned online for the month of August 2009.
AdSense - $46.89
Ebay - $415.73
LinkListings - $7.00
Client Work - $50.00
DiggityHost.com – $6.90
Grand total for the month of August comes to $526.52, compared to last months $441.55, that’s another month of double digit growth. I’m not doing the math this time around…lol.
My AdSense is starting to tick upwards, which is really nice to see, but Ebay has just been a darling to me. Ebay really is various experiements, some that are working, others that are not. It’s my intent to share with everyone what I’m doing, once I know what the hell I am doing. I won’t waste your time with unproven methods…I’ll prove them first, then share with everyone.
Especially now that Ebay has changed the game a bit. No longer are they a place where you can simply send an unlimited amount of traffic in the hopes that some make a purchase. The game has changed to quality now, which means that sending a huge amount of traffic their way will lower your overall earning if the traffic is not what they deem to be “quality”.
The program is brand new, and while I’ve been able to preview what I’ll earn under the new program, it doesn’t start until October 1st. So this means I’m back at square one trying to figure out what will work best.
DiggityHost.com
Try as I may, I just can’t seem to get any traction with DiggityHost, so I think it might be time to off-load it. The expense far exceeds the income I generate from it, and in the saturated market of domain names and hosting, I am but a squeak in the door to a room full of players. It doesn’t make sense for me to continue it’s operation.
The nice thing though is that when I do decide to walk away from DiggityHost, none of my existing customers will be impacted. You see, DiggityHost is actually a GoDaddy reseller site (in case you hadn’t noticed), and when I decide to walk away, everythign will roll-over to GoDaddy’s control. The transition should be seamless to the users, aside from the front-page entry screens that will disappear.
I think it’s the smart thing to do, and after several years of trying to get that program to work for me, it just hasn’t happened. I think my sucesses in other areas have brought me to this decision honestly. I seem to excel in other areas, so I should be focusing on those instead of giving the sqeaky wheel more grease.
It’s hard to let go of something I’ve worked hard to build, but in the end, I think I’m making the right decision.
Growth and Learning
I’m in the middle of a huge growth period in my knowledge right now, and it’s part of the reason why you haven’t seen many posts from me. Every now and then we all need to take a step back and focus on growing our knowledge. Each day is an opportunity to learn something, and I try to learn something new each and every day. It’s how I’ve become to be the person I am today.
What I do is nothing special. What I know is nothing special. Everything that I am is the accumulation of day’s built upon yesterdays knowledge. Anyone can do what I do, if they spend the time to learn one thing new, each and every day.
Thankfully for me, not everyone wants to sit behind a computer all their waking hours programming code. If everyone did, I wouldn’t have the wonderful clients that I do today.

Glad at least some stuff is working out Wayne. Again it better to have multiple sources of income. The hardest thing is to walk away from something you worked hard at, but sometimes you have to make that decision.

Nice income, I know how you feel letting go a site. I put in a lot of work for a few sites but it never seem to result in $$$. So I let a few go, sold a few, and revamp others. It seem to start to work out though.
Keep focus on whats working for you. $1,000 a month is right around the corner.

No clue. I suspect not at all, but who really knows what’s going to happen. Ebay just changed the entire game last month, and I still don’t have a clue what effect that will have on my future numbers.
Rolling with the changes as they happen, and constantly diversifying…
