That’s right, I washed out on the Wipeout audition I attended back in September. It’s really not that big of deal really, all I did was stand in line for about 2 hours to be interviewed in 5 seconds to find out that I’m not going any further, or at best they’ll give me a call.
We both know the chances of that happening.
My close friends know I’m an idiot. They’ve seen some of the things I’ll try and do just to see what happens, so trying out for Wipeout really isn’t all that big of a deal. It’s more a challenge that I want to try, nothing more.
Oh, well, there is a small sum of $50k should I happen to beat everyone else in the challenge. But I tell you, that isn’t what it’s about at all. Sure, it would be nice to win that money, but the fun is in the course and getting beat up by the challenges.
The course taunts me. Each time I watch the show I hear it screaming “come play with me”.
Oh wait, you don’t know what Wipeout is? Here, check this video out, then continue reading:
Wipeout is an ABC show that pits you against an obstacle course and a whole mess of other people in a timed race to complete the course in the fastest time. There are 3 rounds, and I presume the first round is really the producers putting anyone and everyone through the course that they’ve pre-selected from the auditions.
Normally, the people they interview seem to be complete morons and act incredibly ridiculous. But that is part of the fun (for them) I guess. Personally, I doubt they would ever put me in front of the camera since I really don’t get as over-excited as they’d probably want. I just want to run the course. That’s all!
An idea for the producers of Wipeout
Make it a reality show. Make the course available to anyone and everyone. There’s nothing a well written contract couldn’t cover, right? So why not open up the course to allow anyone to come, pay a little money, and take a shot at competing against a few other people in timed races?
I’d pay money just to run the course, and I know there are a number of people out there that would do the same.
You could film it, and turn that into your normal show perhaps. But I think you’d make even more money if you allowed contestants to pay and play.
Personally, I think you’re leaving money on the table by not doing so.
Have any other ideas for the producers of Wipeout?

Damn. Wanted to check out this course you seem so excited about, but the video is “not available in my country due to copyright restrictions” – sometimes the internet can’t give you everything you need!
Anyway, is it as crazy as the old Aussie tv show “It’s a Knock Out” – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6QR5thkpzg&feature=related

Yes, very similar. I’ll see if I can find another video. Now that I’ve been playing around with YouTube a bit more, I’m finding those barriers. Sorry for that, it happens. lol
This show totally reminds me of the English-dubbed Japanese obstacle race course show that was broadcasted on Spke TV, some time back. I think it was called “MXG” or something like that. It’s always fun to watch people run themselves ragged and even more fun when they “wipeout”. The commentary however is what I like. In this case….the comparison of the contestant and the likeness to M. Night Shyamalan (sp) and the material that they worked with.
Haven’t seen you since HS so I don’t know what shape you’re in, maybe the producers are lookin’ for a specific build or are biased of peeps of a certain build because of previous contestants maybe wiping out almost as soon as they hit the course.
Let’s say you did have the build for the course but not the “look” where the writers could not make a celebrity comparison like they did w/the dude featured in your vid. Like I said, half of the comedy is the commentary.
I would imagine film time is expensive. Just like recording time in a music studio is expensive. If it was just about payin’ them for you to run the course, it may be a very expensive try on your wallet. Producers have to pay for the film, the camera, the boom mic operators and the camera man and whatever else I left out to just film anybody to run the course, which is probably why they wouldn’t just let anybody run the course, especially if the producers think that they would wipeout within seconds. Just so you know, my ass would have been right behind you if I tried for the same show.

Damn it! haha. I was a little bit excited to imagine how you’d look like in that program until my hope was shattered into pieces. I kinda feel sorry that you failed the initial interview, but I’m definitely relieved that you’re not their type. You said it yourself: “Normally, the people they interview seem to be complete morons and act incredibly ridiculous.” hehe

Maybe you could qualify for the Japanese version of that show. I forget the name but the course looked even harder than the U.S. version.

I’m guessing you didn’t get to see Jill Wagner in person either. Love the idea of paying to run the course, I’d do it. I’m like you but with American Gladiators. I actually trained to go to the tryouts. Unfortunately when they brought the show back it was for only two seasons. But after reading over the 28 casting application I figured my life was too boring to be cast, unless I made a complete fool and idiot out of myself.
