Flowers for Halloween

November 2, 2009 · 3 comments

I just love Halloween. Each year I try to be a little creative with my costume, and I think this years costume will be hard to top.

I have been considering this costume for a few years, and it wasn’t until all the stars lined up correctly that I was able to see it become a reality.

What was the costume?  A flower.  More specifically, a daisy.

That’s right, I was a daisy for Halloween.  As you’ll see in the pictures below, it actually turned out really, really good.  It was also quite fun to wear as well.  It wasn’t uncomfortable at all, and each and every person I encountered had a big smile on their face after seeing it.

That made all the trouble of getting the costume built well worth it.

After completely destroying any normality at work, we all went to Harmony’s Halloween Haunt.  Harmony always throws a yearly party to help raise money for disadvantaged children and those with serious medical issues, so we are always more than willing to attend.  Besides,  we always have a great time hanging out with them.

This year the guest star was Jackie Beat, and she was simply incredible.  Nasty, funny and very entertaining.  It was a great time.

Here’s one of her best numbers:

And here are some of the photos other people took.  I was too busy drinking and making my way around the party acting like a wall-flower.  Our nephew didn’t care much for being a flower, and who could really blame him.  He was a victim in all this.  I am however very proud of him for putting any concerns of his manhood away for the evening and getting dressed up as a daisy.

It really does take a person that is secure with themselves to pull something like this off I guess, I never really gave it much thought actually.  It’s Halloween after all!  Lighten up and have some fun…even if it is at your own expense.

In any case, the costumes seemed to be a big hit.  I won first place at work, and we received “Most Original” at Harmony’s party.

Enjoy some of the pictures we took, and who knows what will happen next year.  I’m wide open for any ideas, as you might imagine.

Update:  This post used a control that I no longer use.  You can see the pictures here.

Jackie Beat even looked a little like Peggy Lee, although Peggy was a little more staid.
