Embedded Music in Flash Games

Ok, from time to time I will type in ‘free games’ in Google and cruise some results. I don’t do this terribly often, but it’s a great way to quickly distract myself to figure out a problem faster. Does anyone else do this? Take your mind forcibly off a topic to be able to tackle the problem with a different mind-set? Anyway, I’m digressing…

I was playing Metro Siberia 2. The only reason I picked it was due to some resemblance of Asteroids, however after playing, it isn’t anything like it…it only has my buddy, the little triangle ship.

I haven’t done any looking into this, but they are slinging music from the flash games now. Perhaps this has been around for some time, but my first impression was that this was another attempt to recover from the spiraling losses incurred by the record companies and artists. If so, it’s a novel idea. Brilliant when you think about it. I mean the game actually has promotional material for the song. “You can download this song blah…”. That’s what I found interesting at least.

Playing Metro Siberia 2 (I never played the first) was fun…press the space bar to thrust and that’s it. Thrusting simply keeps you in the air while the obstacles whiz by you. It may take a few for it to show.

Terribly slow download too…fyi. Two try’s and I’m done. Score was about 3300.

  1. Flash has some great potential for interactivity. It’s not fair how webmasters ridicule it as if it’s useless

It’s not useless, it just shouldn’t ever be the predominant element on a web page, unless you don’t care about SEO, then it’s all good.
